1) What is the Fearless Mailing List?

Fearless is an semi-moderated mailing list dedicated to Cyndi Lauper. Feel free to talk to other people on the list about her, or if you would like to share your stories, comments, or information etc. This list was started January 11, 1999 and has reached 1068 members and currently has 188 members.

2) How do I post to the list?

Every message sent to the list is automatically marked to reply to the mailing list. If you just want to e-mail the sender of the message and not send to the list, please remove the list address from the To: line and fill in the person's address instead. Posting instructions are at the footer of every message and on the instruction e-mail you receive when you join. The post address is not posted here because of spammer searching for e-mails on webpages.

3) How do I subscribe or unsubscribe to/from Fearless?

Please read the FAQ and then fill out the subscription form if you wish to subscribe to the list. If you wish to unsubscribe from Fearless, send a message to the List Owner. Do not e-mail the list and ask to be removed. Unsubscribe instructions are at the footer of every message.

4) What do I do if I want to change my e-mail address/subscription type on the list?

You do not need to fill out the subscription form on the website again, simply contact the List Owner with your request and it will changed for you ASAP and you will be notified as soon as it is done. If you wish to change your subscription type (Digest or Standard), simply contact the List Owner with your request.

5) What is the Song of the Week (SOTW)?

At the beginning of every week, I will announce a certain Cyndi Lauper song for discussion. You are not limited to talking just about this song, it is just a way to get conversation going on the list. As always, I take volunteers for choosing the SOTW. If anyone wants to pick a song, please e-mail the List Owner and I will add your request. Before you choose, check out the past songs. You can see the list of songs on this website.

6) Can members post attachments to the list?

Fearless is a worldwide list, with many people that have slow Internet connections. If you post an attachment to the list, it will be removed without warning. If you have a picture or pictures you wish to share with the list then send them to the List Owner, and I will post it up on the cyndilauper.net server for everyone to view. You may also host the files at another location and link to them in your e-mail to the list.

7) What if members have a post that is "not Cyndi Lauper related"?

All NCR posts must be approved by the list moderator. Before you send a NCR post to Fearless, you must send it to the list moderator. It will then be approved and will be forwarded to the list by the Moderator ONLY. If you post NCR without permission, you will be suspended from the list. If you are looking for a member on the list, and forgot his/her address, please contact the List Owner.

a) Hoaxes and Virus Alerts on the Mailing List:

Do not post virus warnings to the list. You can not get a virus from opening any message that was sent to Fearless, as all attachments are removed. Do not post Virus Warnings that often state that "Microsoft and AOL confirmed this virus". These are always hoaxes and have no place on a Cyndi Lauper mailing list. Violation of this will result in a warning and a second instance shall result in suspension from the list.

b) Chain letters on the Mailing List:

Do not post chain letters to the list. This includes anything that says to post to 10 friends and your entire address book. If you sent these messages to everyone in your address book, please remove Fearless before you send it. Violation of this will result in a warning and a second instance shall result in suspension from the list.

c) Private Conversations on the Mailing List:

This list is not intended for private conversations of a nature unrelated to Cyndi Lauper. Prolonged conversations of a questionable character unrelated to Cyndi Lauper shall result a warning to take such matters to private e-mail. Multiple violations of this will result in suspension from the list.

d) SPAM on the Mailing List:

Blatant commercial spamming will not be tolerated, commercial information should not be sent to list members via Fearless. Violation of this will result in a warning and a second instance shall result in suspension from the list. If you have a Cyndi Lauper website, you may occasionally post about it to the list, but daily or weekly updates of your website progress are not acceptable. I have received multiple complaints about this from list members. Please think of other people's mailboxes before you post.

8) Flaming of others on the Mailing List:

Flaming is making inappropriate and derogatory remarks to or about persons. Flaming is not tolerated on Fearless and has not appeared in the 27,688 messages since January 11, 1999. I urge people not to post when they are angry at another member of the list. If a post upsets you, please ignore it or delete it. Not everyone in the world has the same opinions. If you still have something to say, write your message a few hours later, you will be less angry. Abusive or insulting language or innuendo having no rational basis to the subject of a post will not be tolerated. Racial, sex, sexual preference, religious, ethnic slurs or discrimination shall not be tolerated. This also includes the use of foul language on the mailing list. Violation of this will result in a warning and a second instance shall result in suspension from the list.

9) List Etiquette and Proper Case in Messages:

As a courtesy to other list member's mailboxes, members are required to write in "Proper Case". This means no "ALL CAPS" (THIS IS AN EXAMPLE), messages with mixed characters (tHiS is AN eXAMple) or improper English.

These types of e-mail's are not acceptable and are very hard for members to read. If you want your message to be read, then please follow this guideline. Most members just delete these types of messages. If you have any questions, please directly your questions to the List Owner. Violation of this will result in a warning and a second instance shall result in suspension from the list.

10) Where can I find the old list archive for 1999 to 2005?

The Fearless Mailing List archive software was changed and the messages from 1999 to 2005 were disconnected. The html copy of the archive was saved and you can read it here.

Webmaster's Note:

Members can be removed from the list without warning if I feel you are causing a disruption, violating a rule, or if I receive too many complaints about that member. Thank you for reading though this FAQ, and if you have anything to add, please feel free to contact the List Owner with your questions or suggestions.
